What is the Currency Converter?
A currency converter multiplies an amount by the current exchange rate between two currencies. The rate shown is the mid-market rate — the midpoint between buy and sell — which is the honest reference figure, though it is not what a bank or card will actually charge you.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the rate I get from my bank worse than this?
Because banks and card networks add a spread and often a fixed fee on top of the mid-market rate. Expect anywhere from a fraction of a percent to several percent. Use this figure as the benchmark to judge how much a provider is charging you.
How current are these rates?
They are fetched from a live rates source and cached briefly to stay fast. That is fine for pricing, invoicing and travel planning, but it is not a trading feed — do not use it for anything where seconds of movement matter.
